Privacy Policy

1. Data Controller

This privacy policy applies to the Equinow mobile application and the equinow.app website ("Equinow", "we"). Your personal data is processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, in particular the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 ("KVKK") and the GDPR. 2. Data We Collect

• Account information: email address, display name, username, profile details (city, experience level, disciplines, profile photo).
• Ride data: the duration, distance and date of the rides you record; route information when recording with GPS. Route and location data is only collected when you start a ride recording.
• Content: the posts, comments, photos, horse and facility information you share.
• Technical data: device type, app version, notification token, IP address (for security and rate limits).

Health data (heart rate): if you grant Apple Health (HealthKit) permission, we read the heart rate recorded by your Apple Watch during rides and store it with your ride solely to show ride metrics (average/maximum heart rate). We do not share this data with third parties; you can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Health.

3. Purposes of Processing

• To create your account, send login codes and manage your account,
• To store your ride records, calculate your statistics and display them to you,
• To provide social features (following, feed, comments, notifications),
• To ensure community safety (report review, moderation, blocking),
• To improve the service and resolve technical issues,
• To fulfil our legal obligations.

4. Sharing of Data

We do not share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes and we do not track you across apps/websites. Data is shared only with the following service providers, to the extent required by the service:

• Hosting: our servers and database,
• Email delivery: an email infrastructure provider for login codes and informational emails,
• Content delivery/security: Cloudflare.

Your profile and your shared content are shown to other users according to the visibility setting you choose (public / followers only / private). Private information about horses (microchip, health records, etc.) is never shown publicly.

5. Retention Period and Account Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account from within the app (Settings → Delete my account); your account is immediately closed to access and your content is hidden. If you log in again within 30 days your account is reactivated; otherwise your data enters the permanent deletion process. You may also send your deletion request to [email protected].

6. Your Rights

Under Article 11 of the KVKK and equivalent GDPR provisions, you have the right to learn whether your data is being processed, to request information, to request its correction or deletion, to object to processing, and to claim compensation should you suffer damage. You can write to [email protected] for your requests; applications are answered within 30 days at the latest.

7. Security

Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS); login codes and credentials are stored irreversibly hashed. Access is restricted with authorisation and audit logs.

8. Children's Privacy

Equinow is not directed at children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we are processing data belonging to a user under the age of 13, we delete it immediately.

9. Changes

This policy may be updated; significant changes are announced within the app or by email. The current version is always published on this page.
